I Want To Pay You Back With Forgiveness

I Want To Pay You Back With Forgiveness

I Want To Pay You Back With Forgiveness
by Tricia Pattinson

My stomach knots and throws
Every time I think of -
Contemplate renewing

What was, "us"

Struggle to sooth and smooth out
Use forgiveness to cure myself
I try and fail so far

Not you, but myself

If ever I could climb above this storm
Climb onto the rock of love
Forgiveness might take root

A thousand cuts to go

To suture with forgiveness
Slowly, so slowly it takes a toll
My stomach newly knots and throws

Is it true forgiveness cures all?

If we could grow enough
For us both it might help
The thousand cuts I paid you back

What was, "us," might have a chance
