No Tomb For Me

No Tomb For Me

A Poem by Tricia Pattinson

No Tomb For Me
by Tricia Pattinson

My bones will soar
Like wings lifted by the winds

Climb the lightning bolts
To bathe with storms

In the green grass a part will fall
Churned to butter for your bread

Every atom of my body will become
Something or someone of the Earth

If I could join the coffee bean
I'd wake someone up to enjoy their day

To sweeten meals
A happy sugarcane a part became

But if some part of me poison ivy joined
I'm sure it would spread as best it could

You will not find me in any tomb
I'll become 7 trillion coulds and possibles

This poem is so light, despite being about death... no, that's not quite right... an ending, maybe--but then rebirth is everywhere. I feel joy when I read this (especially the line about the coffee bean--that would be nice... ) Altogether, a very fine piece of work!
