Starry Utopia

Starry Utopia

A Poem by crystallized illusions

Have you ever gazed up at the stars
And wondered if there was someone gazing back?
Have you ever gawked longingly at the sky
When your mentality was about to crack?

When all sensibility seems lost,
Have you ever cast your eyes to the stars?
Felt as though someone was staring back from another planet,
Sitting with their legs crossed on mars?

The cool of the night chills your skin,
And glinting satellites sparkle in your eye;
Have you ever had an almost desirous curiosity,
That there is someone else standing on a spinning ball in the sky?

The rustle of trees from a different planet,
The view of the moon seen from a different eye;
With responsibilities of their own,
Longing to give the unknown a try?

I've stretched both arms tall towards a starry utopia,
But without means to escape,
I've contented myself with Shangri-la,
In hopes that whoever else is out there with a mouth agape,
Is maybe staring back at me in awe.
