A Sad Smile

A Sad Smile

A Poem by Emily Shakespeare
"

A short poem I wrote at about age 16, after having been inspired by a poem of Emily Jane Bronte's

"

A sad smile came upon her face
And bright lively eyes glistened in the light,
How her dreams were once all full of grace,
But now do wake all through the night.

With such sweet air and pleasant tone,
And cheeks aglow all through the day.
They did know she felt alone
And wept at night her time away.

Haunting
That someone can appear so bright and inside be crying.....for love , someone to hold
or past sorrows.............
beautifully descriptive, only 16? A mature piece.
