Soldier 102

Soldier 102

A Poem by Lady Lola
"

My second poem for Anzac Day. There was "Soldier 101" last year. This subject matter is very close to my heart, I hope I did it justice. Enjoy! ^_^ Lola

"
My child, my son, where have you been deployed?
I fear the worst when you are sent away
My daughter has your unit been destroyed?
The news from overseas come with delay

My lover, I pray you come back to me
I miss you most when I am all alone
You walking up our yard, I long to see
The thought of you harmed turns my heart to stone

My soldier, we are proud with every breath
A hero in our hearts, your face is stern
Please, stay alive, outlive your war zone death
No honour is as big as safe return

Beloved soldiers missing many years
Not knowing where they are caused countless tears
