When the Light Fades

A moment out of time to pause and take a much needed breath.. and to drink in life.

When the light fades

Behind the garden wall at dusk

Leaving the twinkling fire flies to dance
Like madcap fairies drunk on elderwine.

I take in the dusk and the sweet scents
The light breeze that brushes my face.
The sensation of awareness and life.
I am not sad that this is momentary.

I embrace the destiny I was born for.
When the light fades.
Leaving the porch light sparkling in the wind. 

with the crickets in orchestra around me.

No one knows their future.
Except the certainty of change.
Of transformation and rebirth.
of beginnings and endings.

It is night now.
I light the paper lamp and say a prayer.
Letting the little kite rise upwards.
Carrying my heart on a string.

simply had to save this to my favorites .. i was with you all the way ..the warmth and magic and sweet levels in maturity are sparkling ... closing verse is so good! we light the lamp and let go ..all the days troubles and woe .. all the need and want ..all the appreciation for all the drunken fire flies ;) i will see them with new humor now! enjoyed reading very much

Roxie is a two year old Black German Shepherd dog.. I got from a private individual but she was a rescue dog... She is just the finest dog I have ever owned... and amazes me each day. She is a large girl and yet very sweet and gentle.. and agile .. Protective and smart.. We are really haviing a good time.. How is the weather where you are.. I am thinking about making a trip to south dakota in the next months maybe i can swing b for a visit... hehe?

the weather here is beginning to turn towards fall .. it won't be much longer that our chestnut tree is bare (it is the first to go) we would love to have you stop by anytime!! my Norma isn't much into poetry but she is wicked in the kitchen and we both make a mean cup of coffee! :)
