A Corpse is Prepared

A Corpse is Prepared

A Poem by Violet's Run
"

we spend more attention at times to the ritual of death .. than we do to the ritual of life..

"

A corpse is prepared

In ritual for burial

So that we do not witness the corruption

The decay of our mortal bodies.
The process of the rites of death

Helps the living to adjust and ease the loss

I wish there was a rite for removing a love.

To help with the death of an affair d'heart.

A lover carries a part of us with them

Where ever they go.
Whether we are together or not.

It saddens me to know
I cannot remove you O departed lover,

From my very body and blood.
To know that I will survive your loss
Even go on and love again.

But the scars run deep .. and
I am not prepared for the corpse

or our love.
