Chapter Five

 

 

 

PROLOGUE: (Earth*Mankind)

     Smoke billowed everywhere, Lady Elle crept quickly down the back stairway. Avoiding detection, she headed straight to the stables where she knew he waited, she knew she must hurry before Lord Hawreyluk returned.

     If caught, the consequences of this eves’ events would surely bring about the death of many people. Along with a lifetime of pain and suffering for herself at the hands of the one man who had ruined her family, her home, her lands.

     Lord Hawreyluk, Master of the Lands, would view this escape as deceit. His evilness knew no bounds and Lady Elle shivered; feeling fear so intensely that she could hardly breathe. She feared for all those she loved and prayed for goodness to protect them all.

     As she rounded the side of house, Lady Elle gasped in dismay, the entire castle was engulfed in flames, but she knew she could not mourn now for her loss. She would rebuild if success was written in the stars this cold, wintry night.

     Lady Elle heard screaming and then heard the shouts of anger, she paused long enough to see guards rushing towards the stables. Perhaps she was too late, if so, then all was lost this night.
