A Silent PleaA Poem by Carly IthilhinJust... What I think every girl has inside her.Under all that makeup Under all those clothes Underneath those hollow, haunting eyes Especially, underneath that "charming personality" There is a girl With long, tangled hair Nothing like yours, without a hair out of place With wild, vivid eyes There is a girl And this girl is you Not the docile, perfect object You pretend to be But the true you The one who longs to run free through the fields Free of expectations Free of limits, free to be herself What happened to her? Why have you changed? When years ago, you thought you could do anything The world was your oyster Why now, are you confined? Why must you be what they want you to be? Do you fear rejection? Do you fear humiliation? Imperfect. That's what they would tell you if you were you around them If, instead of that mask You revealed to them the raw beauty beneath the cover up With all the quirks, oddities, and extremes That make you, you That make you beautiful That make you perfect To lie to yourself is the deepest of sins To give in, and to become something you aren't That, that is worse than the magnificent creature you are This monster made of plastic This isn't you Where did you go?
