Quote Me On It

Quote Me On It

A Poem by LadyCardiac

I want a mental breakdown

That my momma told me

Only rich little white girls could afford.

But I never been a racist

So i guess she’s still stuck in the mind set

Trying to find her forty acres.

Guess no one ever told her she’s still a negro on paper.

Check the census

Before you jump up and try to censor this.

I know my worth

But you'd spend how much

On that racist b.s.?

Polo cant rock itself solo.

Doesn’t mean Im for us by us

Because to me,

That’s still just bi-us.

I cant be silenced.

So you just search. kill. destroy.

Every glimpse of hope.

Cut that light off

You know you cant pay for it.

And stop window shopping

You know you got to Goodwill yours.

You got a good head but you

Wont get far.

Decapitated before given the chance to make it.

Obsessed with my looks

But if you look deeper you see Im just another black woman

Who a black man once told she wasn’t s**t.

May have not said those exact words but you see he isnt here.

Im a proverbs short of acknowledging it.

Trust in the Lord

Because everybody else is out for self.

Wanting to do them and wonders why we cant build

We just self destruct.

Deflecting the attention from ourselves.

Put me in the lime light

I know Im not living right.

But i know you're not either

Wonder how I figure?

Everyone’s a critic.

Till their critically crippled by their own short comings.

So basically

Envy subsides in jealousy

And mentally we all screwed.

Im tired of comparing grass

Lets burn the whole block down.

Free your mind and get locked up for distribution.

Im a poetic gangster with a bar code not long enough

To be hard enough.

Leaving sentences fractured.

Killing the English grammar.

Im a spell check away from being average.

You're a thesaurus

Im just pre historic.

So when I write,

Historians record it.

I think I just struck oil.

Or is that a nerve?

Ignore what you heard.

Im gunning for it

But bullets swerve.

I got some nerve

Could use a bit more.

Im breaking down.

Mentally tired?

How?

Because I nine to five.

I’m still working for mine.

And you can quote me on it!
