A Moving Experience

A Moving Experience

A Poem by Genie
"

My first poem in months, this won't win any prizes (fer sher!), but every baby step helps :-).

"

My poetry of late

consists of lists

of things to do

for cleaning and packing

packing and cleaning

as we prepare to move

from one house to another

An occasional sabbath rest

elicits ellipses

into more lists …

so what should be refreshment

and re-setting turns instead

to restless thoughts and turnings

for the lists

they grow and multiply

and shout out

so much to do

I end up overwhelmed

and

... oh dear …

listless.

Really appreciate this one. My husband is a list maker and tried to reform me until he realised that by the time I finish writing the damn thing it's far too late to begin doing it!

Well done Genie and thank you for the laughter.

Baby steps rule in writing as in all things.

I love your little play on words, being listless and list-less.

cheers

I think we find peace in making a list - a written, concrete PLAN! A map to follow so we don't miss anything.... or forget something important or is it to put order into things we intend to do...... Or is it that we look so cute with a pencil and paper and that purposeful deep frown of wisdom.....

Like the lovely use of language here...... almost a tongue twister in fact......lovely.

Haha... I like it... a little Vermont, North Country humor there. List begets list.... beware the list, lest it leave you listless... now say that twenty times :) Raising a toast to the muse... cheers...

Painfully true and gentle in its cleverness. Winsome little piece of work.

I am still chuckling as I write this. Would you consider it a prize that the poem brightened what is already a beautiful morning? Thank you. It is good to have my mentor back here in this home.

aw, this is perfect. Lists and more lists, I find myself making them very often. Things I have to do, things I can put off doing, things that probably shouldn't be done at all. Our lives are lists that hold us to some pattern of responsibility.

I've missed your words.

The muse is definitely back! Genie this is fantastic and so full of good news! Yay! I'm thrilled over the poem but even more so over the move! :+)

I LOVE the humor of this piece, it's so good to see ya smiling again. Bless you!
