My Mom is my HeroA Story by LadyBelleFeyA little speech about my mom.My Mom is my Hero
My mom; Barbara, is my hero. Not only is she the woman who brought me into this world after she was told she couldn’t have children, but she is the woman who has lifted me up and protected me all my life through the trials I have gone through. She has taught me to be a strong, independent woman and even unbelieving to some, a lady. When I would scrape my knees, it was her that was there with open arms and comforting words even if she had told me not to be climbing trees in the first place. When I brought her drawings that I now look at and shake my head wondering what in the earth they were, it is her that says “That was such a good drawing of Ariel and Flounder.” When my father Charles would not show for his visitation, it was here that held me and told me what a special little girl I was. When Charles left me to house hop and live on the streets, it was her that came and rescued me and bring me home. It was her that held me when I had my first heartbreak and told me “Men are dumb.” When I joined the United States Army, it was my mom who told me if I believed I could do it, then there was nothing holding me back. And when I came to her telling her I wanted to be a writer, it was her that asked if she could read it. And though she has had to fix some spelling errors, she still continues to read and encourage me to keep writing. It was my mom who supported me through my pregnancy with my daughter Lily, making sure I had whatever strange thing I was craving, including smoked oysters and it was her that staid up with me the three days I was in labor with the help of my drill sergeant Aunt Pam. And when it was finally time to give birth once more it was my mom who was there telling me I was strong and could do it. And now that I have gained a little wisdom, it is with new eyes that I see just how wonderful my mom is. She has a heart of gold and will help anyone who needs it, she is beautiful both inside and out and I love when she smiles because she just glows. She has always taken care of my sister, my daughter, my grandparents and me. And she does things no other person would do, even if she doesn’t want to she still grits her teeth and plows through. She is the strongest woman I know and I hope that as I grow I can be a great and amazing woman just like her. So mom, this is to you. I know I haven’t always been the easiest daughter to raise and there are times you could just throttle me, but even through all that you have never left my side. It has always been you and me against the world and I can’t think of anyone I would have by my side then you. I love you mom and thanks for all that you do. © 2010 LadyBelleFey |
