A Lonely Star

A Lonely Star

A Poem by Ashley Blair

I lust after love
But fear love itself

I am like a star, brilliant and lonely,
Craving hands to hold me

Guiding my way across the alabaster sky,
Where not even the most hopeful eye can see

It is only in the dark that I find myself,
It is where I can exist without merely having to be.

And only then in the stillness of night can he gaze upon my soul,
And if he stays until morning, I'll give him my all.

I love the last line. You don't want some willy nilly star gazer but a man who puts his soul into curiosity into wanting to truly know you. A fine piece of work in getting your profound message across.
