A Recovery SagaA Poem by LadyAnn68My own experience holding onto my recovery!A Recovery Saga
Out of the long awaited darkness Came a woman forced to live by her past A high-risk lifestyle of smuggling and drugs An autobiographical movie she was typecast She was not free she was imprisoned Into a large bubble pipe made of glass From negative event to negative event She was dragged through it and passed
And through the years she only existed Feelings of turbulence wide and in motion Her nightly routine from dusk till dawn Her daily life was splattered and broken She wanted to be real in a pseudo world A drug world where validity is hoken And deep within her searching soul Come her genuine words but never spoken
Through the blue-hazed fog of indecision Came a moment of sunlight clarity She faced the mirror she face the fear She can’t stay on this continuum of disparity The dangerous events she had no control Life-threatening in severity She wanted to run she wanted to hide From all the sins, lies, and vulgarity
She had to ramble she had to move on She had to seek and find an ally She came to a fork in the road One labeled “hard” the other labeled “high” Scared as she was she chose the “hard” With mounting courage gave her best try With one last glance at the road she traveled Came a heavy breath and a whispered “Bye”
Her first recovery moments were adventure She walked through indecision blind And each new bridge she conquered and crossed Was a pot-at-the-end-of"the-rainbow find She made new cyber friends she got educated She sharpened her memory, wits, and mind Now shooting for the stars of a personal goal Wakes each morn body, heart, and soul aligned
What once was the high she lived for Is now a reminder nauseating thought All those years she stumbled and fell All those negative events she caught Like a mountain-climbing expert With each rise she fought To keep her recovery to keep abstained To keep an achievement earned not bought
Now with continuing battles She still fights with a vengeance To put her past behind her To keep her balance and independence With her deep heart-felt words She creates motivation with each sentence Her recovery now and until forever Remains with her heart in attendance
LIFE IS SUCCESS WITH RECOVERY!
