12 Years RecoveredA Poem by LadyAnn68Sept 3, 2015 I am 12 years in recovery...I am grateful~“12 Years Recovered”
It’s been a while since I dumped out All the ugly on the table It’s been a while since I told Wild stories that were TRUE fables The sad acceptance I have faced Were my own choices that enabled Sometimes feeling investigated With added stigma and now labeled
Now as I reflect these past moments And sit back on this 12th year All the voices of the past in my head I can clearly listen and now hear What the big push was all about Just had to get past all the fear With heart and soul today smiling RECOVERY has stayed in place right here
I sometimes chuckle listening to some professors Who think scientific study is SO sound Basing all their opinions written or verbal on “safe” scientific grounds Conclusions based only on statistics They think THEY’VE found But I can honestly vouch that most Haven’t a clue on what really goes down
In my opinion it is not the professors and doctors Who understand or can relate But the policeman who protected and/or arrested you Having seen and experienced the addict’s heartsick place Warning you to stay far away from the dealers Consider that you might meet your fate Policemen who have picked up bloodied broken boned bodies Of addicts who never got the chance to wipe clean the slate
So I’m here to tell you on this auspicious day “I am thankful… To my family, professors, co writers, ITR’s, and my very special “Women in Recovery” sisters For all your silent prayers and messaging that made me hopeful For believing in me when I did not Still running on past horror and still frightful That each and everyone of you has landed a place in my heart For all of you and my savior Lord…I am so grateful~”
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO YOU ALL WHO SAVED AND STUCK BY ME!
