“Back to Life”

What is accomplished by getting high

Lose yourself in the dead of night

Enhances only belief’s of the mind

Addicted fast no outward sign

One minute fine clear as a bell

The next you’re awake in the fires of hell

Everything straight seems long and boring

Without that jolt of pleasure soaring

Build a garden of new colorful plants

Seeds of life to take a chance

Struggled fates that were so tall

The drug world that made you fall

Obstacles of damages you’re wading through

Recovery seems so far from you

Born with a silver spoon in your mouth

Cooking on that spoon led you south

The devil now you faced and met

Was only the memory high you kept

Buried deep to keep alive

From feeling completely dead inside

Life was constantly dark gray and storming

You prayed just once for a sunshine morning

Now facing the echoing sound

The loneliness of your life all around

Take rainwater wash your hair

Look into the mirror a good long stare

Cover your body with scented lotion

Clear your mind from all commotion

Think of just how to say

Thank you God for my life you saved

A cleansing soul that now soothes

Stands only on “grounds of truth”

Search your feelings search your heart

Give in to make that brand new start

Take addiction cast it aside

Come out of your shell no need to hide

With initiation of each life’s new layer

You will thrive as a “recovered” player

Cut out all the “bad” with a BIG knife

Reach for God’s hand to come back to life

RECOVERY IS…BACK TO LIFE…COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS…YOU’RE ALIVE!
