Think on You...The Questions

Think on You...The Questions

A Poem by LadyAnn68
"

Trying to make the decision to "change"...and why!

"

Think on You…The Question

Do you have unimpeachable morals

Or violations of such, fueling sorrows

Is sleep an avenue for escape

Or nightmares downing in the deepest lake

You were brought up Christian, do you feel that now

Or has addiction torn those values somehow

Do you feel you have lost ALL faith

No longer standing in God’s good grace

Are you in denial of your addiction plight

Do you feel there’s no point left to fight

So many years lost while you were young

The melody of “life” was over before sung

It got lost somehow through the years

Trust and dignity sober’s biggest fears

How to make that first risk-taking move

Give it up to God, you will never lose

There is no consolation or prize

In the mirror “evil” covers the eyes

Clouded judgments adapted brain works

It is there the devil rules and lurks

Till nothing is left but skin and bone

There are thousands still, you are not alone

If you’re lucky disease won’t share

Your body, your heart, your mind, your hair

Don't stay forever and wallow in hell

Wash it off get rid of "street-life" smell

Call someone you once new

Make amends to the inner you

Forgive yourself for the things you said

While drugs worked overtime in your head

Go to a meeting the first one you attend

Find a sponsor to help the mend

ADDICITON DOSEN’T CHOOSE … ADDICTION DOESN’T CARE … IT IS ONLY YOU WHO CAN START THE REPAIR

This is splendid! I especially like this segment:
'The melody of “life” was over before sung
It got lost somehow through the years
Trust and dignity sober’s biggest fears'

My Faith tells me that all of my transgressions, known and unknown, from eternity past and eternity future are paid for completely, forgiven by God, and blotted out of His memory and awareness by what Jesus did for me. This has come without any acts or works by me, whether I repent or not, get baptized or not, whether I confess and seek forgiveness or not, no Papal Indulgences, appearance bonds, or community service, tithes, sacrifices, fasts, charity, missionary support, or obedience to the instructions of a certified, trained, licensed "holy man" are required. Everything to make me whole and restore me to my Creator God is finished, done, once and for all.

All that I do for God, obeying His teachings in the Bible, etc. are done purely and entirely because of my overflowing Gratitude for what He has done for me. I am acceptable, loved unconditionally, a good but frightened weak soldier, expressing, sharing and helping with God's love as I can. There is NO MORE GUILT. The Steps are genius because the Lord has used them to make me useful to Him, and "reasonably happy" like the Book promised.

I apologize for the sermon, but it is my witness to the power of learning God's thoughts and precepts through other men and women.

No perfect person. All of us had fought demons and made mistakes. Myself, deeds of youth cannot be forgiven. I believe all we can do is live right and hope for a kind God. I believe if we don't repeat our mistakes and do not harm people intentional. We can find peace. The poem asked questions and open the eyes of the reader. Many kind of addiction. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome my friend.
LadyAnn, you're right up my alley lately, I have been talking about this in school, researching it and all - considering I want to be counsellor/psychologist it intrigues me etc. But I know exactly what you're saying, there are so many I know of and want to help so much, I have helped a few so far - it's an accomplishment for us both and it took a great deal of time.

Well said my honored friend...!
I love this solid piece of work, sticks it out there and states it plainly. I am 7 months recovering from my latest trip off the wagon and I am inspired to remain sober from this writing.
