the coming season~

The Way I Look At You

 

Approaches softly

A gentle breeze

Caresses your face

Touching coolness

Swifts by your skin

Colorful changes

Shades of auburn

Leaves twirling in the wind

Against a cobalt blue sky

Huge piles of leaves

Children jump in

Couples holding hands

Stroll by the riverbed

Love lingers from spring

Earth’s easy spin

Holds on to the night

Twinkling magnificent stars

Sounds echoing voices

Laughter filling sighs

Children’s smiles of the morning

Sunny and bright

Thanksgiving is near

Pumpkin's entrance begins

The smell of pies

Turkey's gobble

Thankful

 Autumn has arrived!

This is a really lovely poem! I found it really easy to read and it flowed so well even with no rhyme. The imagery was really great and vivid.

Thank you sweetie...it was a first try at free verse...I was looking outside the window where 3 huge trees were all diffident color leaves and a crystal blue sky! I took a shot in the dark...I sometimes write more academically and would like to break free of that! I hope we continue to develop our writing! Have a great day!

Oh hi my favorite protege, thank you sweet stuff, it was a first time to try free verse no rhyming and no addiction (lol hahaha)..and here is the thing, I live now in the middle of NO WHERE...but outside my window are 3 huge trees with a thousands of giant leaves turning all colors and floating softly to the ground. So I like this new experience and I have coffee every morning here with my baby laptop and start my day with a glorious view of the changing season. It is wonderful to be a part of nature! But I am glad you took time to read this I really needed to know from the experts YOU that is....>>>so thanks. I said hello to you again last night and sang on the radio...LOL hahaha did you know that I can sing? I have lost over 75 pounds since this video but here is a talent show I won....here is the link:

the imagery here is captivating and nostalgic.. has a warm autumn feel to it.. well done..

just a small note... my opinion, for what it is worth...

"Swifts by your skin"... love the alliteration.. not really sure how anything "swifts".. but if it is caressing my skin then the coolness might be tickling, or another word for teasing the senses to let us know exactly how that coolness feels, the effect.. the interaction.. the strength.. again, just my opinion...

and...

"Shades of yellow, orange and reds"... guess it works either way, but flows better in my head with red being singular along with yellow and orange.. flows better into the next stanza..

again.. beautiful imagery.. you have delighted the senses with this one.. :)
