How They Treat MeA Poem by LadyAnn68Trying to find honest licensed work after a background-check fails you~my none ending story! How They Treat Me
Done a lot of wrong To many whom I’ve loved But the most wrong I’ve done Was to my belief in God above
Drowned in years with drugs Lost faith, family, and friends With new found determination Tried to make complete amends
With a new set of priorities Found passion for the written word Went back to get educated Became a bookworm nerd
Went to get licensed But NO work breaking my neck It all came down to the same thing Passing a background check
Everywhere I went The same cold shoulder Worse than standing in the street Or hit by an ice hard bolder
No matter how much How hard I tried They’d stand in front of me One by one they all lied
What does an addict have to do To eliminate the stressful How to obtain a green light Show you can be successful
What massive energy will it take To finally earn respect Find lawful employment Be able to earn your own paycheck
How can I change How they look at me To give a measure of credit Change the way they treat me Some days I want to give up To scream out so very loud But God still stands behind me With his trust, I’ve become proud
Don’t Ever Give UP Your Dreams~
