My Forgotten MarineA Poem by LadyAnn68All marines who sacrificed their lives for our county, for our freedom, and mine for meMy Forgotten Marine
Out of the mist Came the smile on your face Out of the tears Visions of you dying in that awful place
We only had that short time We fell so in love at first sight You put a ring on my finger Symbolizing our future…my delight
So enamored looking at you Erect in that Marines uniform You stood out for patriotism You didn’t follow the addictive social norms
You used to twirl my hair You called me your “Little Goldie Locks” Wasn’t prepared for you To come home in that pine box
They put a flag over you The ringing of the guns shot loud Silvery tears streaming down my face Everyone saluted you proud
Last to leave I watched They set you in the ground My heart beating wildly Motionless there was no sound
Deep in the early morning hours I wake up in a cold sweat Feeling my love for you will never die I will never let them forget
You were born without fear The boy grew into a man You fought for our freedom You died to make a stand
YOU WERE TO THE MILITARY A MARINE, YOU WERE TO THE COUNTRY… A FIGHTING SOLDIER…IN THE DEEP OF THE NIGHT…YOU WERE ALWAYS MINE…
