Me and My ShadowA Poem by LadyAnn68Conversation with my shadow whom I have grown very attached!
Me and My Shadow
Walking to and from class On the brightest of a sunny day I felt the presence of someone following And it seemed he followed every step of the way
Like a long dark pole in the early morning To only and inch in the noon sun Time moves exactly… precisely Until the dark moving pole and I were one
I tried to lose this shadow of me But found I could not do it I ran, I skipped, I tried to hide But he stuck like glue through it
So once in the morning time I turned to ask, “Why do you follow me?” And the shadow replied, “It is my job!” His answer swift with respectful dignity
I was stunned at first so again I turned Asking, “What is this job description?” My shadow answered, “to remind you that you exist” As the sound faded from my illusion
So the next day anxious to see my shadow And speak to him for more answers I seek I sought, “My shadow are you here today?” “Yes, I am here” said he not sounding quite so meek
“Why else do you follow me, what other reason, Is there nothing else to detect? An unusual answer came forth this time “I am also here to watch over you and protect!”
Walking with my shadow became pleasant Such a nice fluid affair, definitely not stone My shadow eloquently spoke first this time prophesying, “With me you are never in danger of being alone!”
“But what could I need protection from Except for the trusting in love?” My shadowed smiled and bequeathed, “If you have faith love will come from my employer…God above!”
