The Things I Write For

The Things I Write For

A Poem by LadyAnn68
"

What gets me high on life now are these things!

"

The Things I Write For

Lost in aspirations
Delusions of grandeur’s I’m still searching to find
Constantly thinking, constantly writing
On thoughts so deep down in my mind

Looking back on the road I’ve traveled
Life’s events are never free
But this journey I’m now making
Is what’s shaping and molding me

I sing when I feel happy
I watch a child take his first step
I kneel when I am speaking to God
For the prayers in my heart I’ve always kept

I write to keep me going
I write to help my anger pass me by
I write for health, family, and most of all Love
I write for things that now get me high!

YES! I WIRTE FOR THE THINGS MONEY JUST CAN’T BUY!

I love the striving of this. I am constantly taken with the beauty of striving. No one has this beauty so much as those in recovery. They have the clarity of vision on that subject that allows it to be all the more poignant. Lost in aspirations, who can't relate? I have spent a lifetime in that state. (I think you may want to change "I" to "I'm" in the second sentence though...The English tutor in me feels the need to say it as a help.) Writing is a great high, and one that is under control. For our minds are clearly capable of everything we feel on drugs, without drugs being needed. We can achieve those ecstasies within ourselves, and the only difference is that when WE do it, we have control.

Hard to write for profit. Pleasure to write for the sharing of words. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Likewise....
This is a great poem and very relatable for anyone who writes. Everyone has experiences or reasons that drive them to write and you have done a beautiful job at conveying that.

Thank you this is one of my very favorites!
Those are the things I write for too, some of them anyway, we all write for different reasons, you have expressed this directly and openly. I like the last line, that is so true.

Writing is a life force

Good luck with your exams fingers crossed
