Home at Last

A Poem by Lady Luck

You asked me what I could possibly see in him.

Truth is, I can see everything around him.

You've had me for years, yet you say it wasn't enough.

You've hurt me for years, yet you say it was a lie.

I finally found my own way home.

Not to your house of lies

But I've reached my own place

Where only I can survive.

I've got people to trust

I've got people to love.

I don't need you any more.

You told me that he's no good for me,

Truth is, you're deadly.

At least he cares,

At least  they care.

You never do.

All I am is a check to you.

I've never been anything else.

So, now someone thinks of me as something else

And I like the way it feels.

So, I'm going home.

But not to yours.

I'm going home to mine.
