Brave War

Brave War

A Poem by Lauren Xena Campbell

Graze upon the sunlight here,

The lasting wish of fatal year,

It’s luminosity the only light,

Our woeful tears our only might,

And days and weeks shall pass,

For one answer this question asks,

On what sad tomb shall the dawn break?

What misery death to our lives make.

Through fragile war, begrudging battle,

Victory shall never be our mantle,

In these numbers lost we loss our win,

This fight for freedom turned to sin,

But practiced pieces shall play their part,

From afar the Powers wreak their art,

The building stones of labours vanquished,

With all of terrors screams we are blind by madness.

Small the start to raging war,

To success the losses shall total more,

Captured heat in peaceful hearts,

Injected bloodlust a government’s lark,

Record the year, history now repeats,

Duty and freedom the bullets meet,

Still after all peace will fly again,

Brave war, the riddle of men.

Author's Note

Lauren Xena Campbell
War seems to play a large part in any life, whether we be involved in it personally or not. My Grandfather was on the beaches on D-Day. He survived. A good friend of mine however was killed this Christmas and since then my opinions of the subject keep changing. What is war good for. This poem is my battle to try to understand this thing called war.

How I loved those lines..how I loved everything, this is straight from the heart..
I could see how these stupid wars do affect you, wish I could tell you the feelings on the other side
the ones who had war put on them, who are the weaker side, who have to face all the accusations and blame
wish I could tell you how the last six years of life here how like hell they were ..I swear my friend..its like a big prison
we lost thousands of innocents ..we have so many mental illnesses..I could never leave home only for emergencies
these also I try to postpone,or death surely will be my fate,so I keep at home and dream that one day a crazy man
will find reason and be sane enough to stop the madness..the whole world is on fire, some bullies on head of governments still see it as a great act of bravery
wish they could come and see how brave they were ..they demolished whole cities ,whole so many lives ,dreams and hopes
On what a sad tomb shall the dawn break
what misery death to our lives make
Apart from the so much heart and kindness i saw here ,I really saw lots of talent
and the writing is really wonderful in structure and depth, you are a wonder ,my friend

'The riddle of men' it certainly is. Men seem to love it and hate it. They love it when they can prove their courage. And of course they love to win. There is no greater thrill, is there? But then there is the pain of it all...the loss of friends, the loss of limbs, the loss of confidence, the trauma years on. It is a total, total riddle. And these days the lads talk of 'just doing their job'. What a job! Clearly there is pride in getting things right and supporting your mates. But in truth the whole thing is horrible. But then the harder questions are for the politicians who control the generals. I am sorry you know someone who lost their life. There are more and more by the month.

Somewhere on the edge of the imagination

About
Dreams are not made to be broken, but are created in the heart to write destiny! I've always loved making up stories and putting words down onto paper, despite the fact that I only really learnt to.. more..
