Nightmares

Nightmares

A Poem by Lauren Xena Campbell

They gather in dark places

Weasels of the night,

Feeding with grim faces,

Planning their next plight,

Talking in harsh whispers,

Never silent like the grave,

They haunt the dreams worth seeing,

They’re here to cause you pain.

Quite a contrast to the joy of the green poem! I could 'hear' this one being spoken or whispered, a candle buring on the table to one side. 'Never silent like the grave' is a clever line. 'Weasels of the night, feeding, planning' is very active and strong...and just how such night annoyances are. There should be a friendly nightmare slayer who patrols our sleep and destroys them!
