Thunderclap

Thunderclap

A Poem by Lauren Xena Campbell

Thunderclap

SMACK!

In the face

Terror race

For the states

All creeds beware

Going places?

Nowhere

Cry in the night

Weathered heights

Fallen might

Worlds end peering

Near endearing

Not quite

Terror failing

Starvation bearing

Child voice

Only innocents

Hurricanes, planes

BANG!

Terror wins again

Expulsion, explosion

Fates of the masses

Our own elevation

No explanation

Ways of war

And world

You could very easily use this piece in a poetry slam... remarkable imagery in so few words. This entire poem has a feel of action, yet can take place in the moment of silence in a raging storm between the lightning and thunder. This is a great mix of natural phenomenon and social commentary. Nicely inked.

I agree with previous comment, this would be a punchy performer.
