New ties, old friendsA Poem by Lauren Xena CampbellI left college on Friday.Forever is ‘leaving’ the plague on my house, And counsel of good will being abandoned, For every account of well wishing they bring, They force a new blood tear from me, It breaks my heart to leave. The road is long and goes ever on, And trees will still grow for years to come, Weather family, friend or foe, The wind joins us closer, And all shall be missed, When relationships are shattered. They speak to shortly renew, But their eyes wave silence farewell, As with parting glace and brave attempt, Life had to commune, And travel further in this living abyss, With nought but memories to amuse. It is too hard to say… …Good-bye.
