Physiatrist

Physiatrist

A Poem by Lauren Xena Campbell
"

Another older piece

"

I ask you,
Look in the mirror,
Now,
Do it,
Now,
Not later,
I ask you,
What do you see?
When you look in the,
Mirror,
Or at me,
Do you see yourself?
For whom you are,
Do you see me?
Like you see the stars,
The answer,
If you please,
Tell me now,
I beg you,
Please,
I don’t think,
That you know,
Do you,
No,
You don’t,
No,
You can’t,
That’s right,
Wrong,
When I look,
In the mirror,
I see,
Who I am,
For what I am,
The person I could be,
The person I once was,
Look in the mirror,
See the past,
Present,
And the future,
In your eyes,
See,
Your dreams,
And wishes,
Just,
Like,
Me.
Look in the mirror,
And don’t ever forget,
That you are who your are,
Ok,
NEXT!

This is the problem with spell check. Typos that are real words slip by. Physiatrists treat a wide range of problems from sore shoulders to spinal cord injuries. They see patients in all age groups and treat problems that touch upon all the major systems in the body. These specialists focus on restoring function to people. I know this because I am seeing one for my knees.

Anyway everyone who is not delusional sees what you see in the mirror. No matter what others see. We cannot hide what we are from ourselves.

I read this poem and I really think it is a good one. It reads well and the message in the poem, to me, was a a good one. I would hope that is how physiatrists would be, but I don't think they are. But your poem is a positive one and I do like the message.

I like this mini drama. It is active and demands a response from the reader, or maybe the listener. I can hear it. And the subject matter fascinates. You could write this poem every seven years of so, to see how you have changed :))) And the mirror is to your mind. Maybe we need another person to reflect our minds...are psychiatrists mirrors? Or lovers? Do we only fully see ourselves in others' views of us?

This is a wonderful piece it also kind of reminded me of Denis Leary's skit in where he said he could help the world with their problems Good Job
