CancerA Poem by Lauren Xena CampbellCancer, The plague of the earth, Anger with no cure, Crushing hope, smashing the soul, Like a mirror of ice, Seven years bad luck, Wounded heart forever, Tearing love away, Causing pain. Look back on endless years, How many graves have the reapers filled? One, Two, Three? Too many that words can’t say, Bite the bullet, feel the blade, No, the black withering decay, Extinguishing lives so dear: Friend, Grandpa, Uncle, Grandpa, Aunt, Grandpa, Will the undertaker’s list never end? Tears will fall, Emptiness begin, And what have we gained? Strength, Bravery, Grief? Cancer – The plague with no cure.
