inside me

inside me

A Poem by Carron
"

something that burnt in me while sitting

"

it seers through all that lies within me

my temperature at breaking point

along time ago the wounds healed

along time ago were the scars my only remaining ...

passing time

exposure to the light

laughter

sunshine

flowers

-all these allowed me to forget how it burnt

sitting here i remembered..

sitting here, my body weakens..

weakens to temptation..

a broken bottle neck

my last tool

the events preceding the sirens

a puncture

pierced skin

scarlet flowing

a beautiful sight

..here i go again..

Wow, dark but full of vivid imagery.

Being honest.
First it is not easy to read of someone, anyone hurting themself. Nor is it the first time I have read such a poem. Having said that it is a true poem in that it captures the feeling and the moment, and it is moment and a feeling that many will understand.
I am not easy about blood myself so I never understand the sort of build up you describe. It seems an almost animal urge, very physical...and above all a strong impulse
I like the way you say how things have healed since the last incident. 'laughter, sunshine, flowers' are the stuff of normal life that are supposed to make us happy. So how can anyone possibly go wrong with such things in their life? Yet the itch is there...
The word 'puncture' is very strong...but the best part of the poem for me is '...here we go again...' which has a ring of weary inevitablity and resignation about it...yet the whole thing also has some kind of strange excitement about it, too.
