![]() Winter's KillA Poem by anne p. murray- LadeeAnne
Memories of what I thought was love Leave me feeling cold and empty Frozen and bare like the old oak tree in winter Who’s lost its leaves of green and gold
The old, oak tree… Once covered in soft, green billowy leaves I too, was once covered With your sweet, tender love
Now, I feel like the old, oak tree in winter Your love, only a temporary blanket To be removed when arctic, icy bitterness Set in your stone cold heart
The unforgiving resentment That blankets your avenging heart Is like petrified, icy snow On the frigid, wintry ground
Will the renewal of nature’s warming sun Melt your frozen heart of stone Like springtime melts the icy, wintry snow As it tenderly persuades eager Budding leaves and blossoms to bloom?
No… Sadly you remain bitter and empty Cold as the frozen icicles That hang on the branches Of the cold, old oak tree Such a lonely place to stay… Frozen, unforgiving, bitter … Standing all alone ![]() All poems written& copyrighted by LadeeAnne ~Anne P Murray A “Pas De Duex” of Rhythm and Visions~ _____________________________________ © 2011 anne p. murray- LadeeAnneReviews
