Sitting Alone Now

Sitting Alone Now

A Poem by anne p. murray- LadeeAnne

Sitting alone now

    for so many years…

thinking about her past

    Why certain things didn’t last

what she'd lost, what she'd gained

   Acceptance...

of what is and what was

The many prices she paid for being lost

Stupid… looking for cupid

wishing she could wipe the slate so clean

The tears that dropped

  a heart that stopped…

looking for that love

   Accustomed now...

in her older years

   Comfortable by herself

peace attained

    Yet…

Knowing she deserved better than she got

     because of bad decisions

made for wrong reasons

out of a need to attract love

Based on fear, rather than love

    attracting the wrong ones

Fooled by empty lies

   that should have spoken truth

She cannot be fooled anymore

    she's free…

Moved her heart to another spot

Her grown son and daughter

her granddaughter too

   So special to her heart

Contented...

by writing her words and poems

Comfortably ...

   Alone

despondant ..almost but no rather just excepting the result... but not remembering she still has the words from her poems.. and others...live vicariously thru all lifes gifts...guess you could say I live like the voyeur I have become accustomed to being in my old age...wondering if my thinking one is better by far than the alternative? yes I think it is...

Anne, your time has made you whom you are... and given you the family and friends... and even allowed me to softly touch your hand. Don't go wishing THAT all away.
