The Professor~If Only

The Professor~If Only

A Poem by anne p. murray- LadeeAnne

I awoke to another cold, February morning…

As I looked out the frosted glass of my bedroom

window at the grey, mist filled sky I found my myself

reflecting on the days I spent with the professor

He declared his love…

Bequeathed his heart, bestowed his kindness,

    his generosity, his benevolence…

so alien to my battered heart

He is now in Costa Rica…

with his new wife in their beautiful new condo

His landscapes now are warm, golden sands, painted

azure skies and deep blue, cerulean waters

I leave the warm comfort of my bed…

Like I left the warm comfort of his kindness and benevolence

I reluctantly slide my cold feet into my bedroom slippers

Stepping gingerly onto my chilly, bedroom floor

Reading your poem made me sad, there are people who come into our lives and leave a mark so strong that we cannot forget about them.

I'm not an extraordinary woman, simply put... I'm just a normal, ordinary one. In my private life I am gingerly cautious with the people I meet, but fearless in the words I write. Not an extrove.. more..
