When We Were Us

When We Were Us

A Poem by anne p. murray- LadeeAnne

When I was you

         And...

you were me

we built our love on trust

slowly and surely…

     our 'We' became an 'Us'

Together we fell in love

     believing it would last

For years we shared our joy

     but sadly…

      our  ‘Us’  became the past

I learned to play a game

     pretending it didn't hurt

each time I heard your name

          Then...

the last time I saw you

I could hardly catch my breath

As the tears began to flow

my heart began to skip a beat

it's been so hard to let you go

how much longer can I pretend

            Because...

Even though you're gone

     I still love you so

About
I'm not an extraordinary woman, simply put... I'm just a normal, ordinary one. In my private life I am gingerly cautious with the people I meet, but fearless in the words I write. Not an extrove.. more..
