Finding Radiance

I stole away in the vast moonlight

To the whispers of the darkened night

The glow was so beguiling it took my breath away

Comforted by its loveliness it beckoned me to stay

 

I felt such happiness in that hour so blessed

Of joy and hope and bliss, my heart accepted rest

I stood fierce and tall in the calm, peaceful light

My soul, my spirit freed, I soared in lovely flight

 

I came back home to lay my weary head

In my quiet room I laid upon my bed

Looking out my window I saw the moon smile in the sky

It took a moment to realize just how good it felt to fly

I've always had dreams where I'm soaring in the sky..which prompted me to write this poem

This is a superb write Anne. It may be short on stanzas but it's big on feeling and the third stanza just pulls the whole thing together so well. Nicely done.

A perfect poem. The syllables, rhyme and rhythm are all in sync. I love poems about the universe, moon and stars. It's so dreamy and beautifully written. It's a poem to sleep by.
