Journey of The Owl

Journey of The Owl

A Poem by anne p. murray- LadeeAnne

T
hrough leafless trees and moonlit night

Surveying his domain in solo flight

Winged denizen of woodland lore

This wise guardian magically soars

Protective spirit of warrior brave

Watcher of dark their spirits save

Powerful messenger to all mankind

On mission to help our journey find

Listen to dreams from this winged guide

Feathered spirit with enchanting eyes

Sacred bearer of wisdom and light

Soaring through dreams in mythical flight

Author's Note

"In many tribes, owls were seen as most closely allied with medicine men, rather than warriors or hunters. Lakota medicine men respect the owl because it moves at night when people sleep, and the medicine men get their power from dreams at night, clear dreams like the owl's sight, so many Lakota medicine men wear owl feathers and promise never to harm the owl, or else it is believed their powers will leave them. Creek medicine men often carried an owl skin or feather as a symbol of their calling. Owls were said by the Cherokee, and the Lakota, to bring prophetic news, either of the future or of events happening in the future.

The owl is probably the most noble of all birds for they possess the wisdom and strength... I really your description of this nocturnal creature.
