Forgotten Fairytale

Forgotten Fairytale

A Poem by anne p. murray- LadeeAnne
"

Wounded thinking and shattered illusions about love

"

I thought I knew you

  Your spirit, your soul

       Somehow~

I became accustomed

       to your flaws

Inured, in some way

       by my belief in you

And so...

       I lingered on

 I had faith in you

I blinded my eyes

To the selfishness in your soul

Everything seemed to be

       Just about you...

Never me

       My blinded eyes led me

to an empty space

       that barren place

you call your soul

       My own mind and heart

betrayed me

       Just like you betrayed me

Your deceitful, selfish affection

       misled me

I  believed in your illusion

       My heart was tattered

shattered like fine, crystal glass

       Now~

I've finally come to this conclusion

      This time

I know who you really are

      You are one

That I've trained my self

    To no longer desire

And yet- I feel sad and empty

      Something is gone…

Something I never really had

A sad and beautiful poem. It break our heart when we realize the ending has came. I like your story in the poem. Photos and words made the poem come alive. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

In your words one finds a familiar place.. a feeling that we've been there.. walked that path of wondering.. We so long for love, and will often place ourselves in harm if we feel that something better might arise from our pain. Love is sometimes a brutal beauty.. or at least what we often imagine of it. Poigant write to be sure.

She grows and learns. This is a fine statement of self awareness. It takes maturity to face the truth about oneself and others. This poem elegantly describes an important process of life. I found it easy and interesting to read.

People are strange creatures aren't they... I mean we... how we can grieve for something that hurt us.

Wonderfully written, this poem has a depth of feeling in it that few poets are able to plumb. Cupid is cruel but He is not blind as some seem to believe He is a trickster and enjoys making lovers hurt. He is not IMHO the cute little chrub pictured on
