Dust and Cobwebs - Memories Of Us

Dust and Cobwebs - Memories Of Us

A Poem by anne p. murray- LadeeAnne

We were once two lovers

We thought we tried our best...

but seemed to have done our worst

The shine had worn from our auras

where it has once glowed brilliant

I shudder in remembering

how sharp the pain was...

from our turbulent past

Our touches tendered only by habit

withered in a state of unrest

Our flesh- once a burning flame

with lusting mouths thirsty with desire

that darkened - dying from kiss to kiss

No longer...

were there intimate hungers

I think if you had loved me when I needed you

quietly, tenderly...

Who knows

Who really knows?

Now- we're like cobwebs hanging in corners

of lonely, empty rooms

Nothing left - but dry earth on a well traveled road

walked over by lovers before -

lovers after

following where our feet once tread

stirring up dust of old memories

    Stirring up memories of us
