Private engagements

A Chapter by Lacy Sutton

A break in Iyanna said while hearing the crazy story from the sheriff. Apparently it was some stranged lunatic looking for someone he could not find and how he was angry with his empty findings. What sparked Iys attention was the mentioning of the street the intruder was on. It was her street and the house he broke in was just a few houses from hers. Feeling uneasy of the situation she decided she'd phone her parents checking to make sure they were ok. She spoke with her mom who seemed to have been asleep and unaware of the event that occured, she reassured Iy that she was alright and she didn't have to worry as they had the alarm set on the house and her dad would be the first to take out the crazed man if need be. Happily hanging up the phone she told Mel they were safe. It was then that she realized other details to the sheriffs story. The man had the same features as the one from the woods and the victoms of the house had noted to the police that he was looking for someone named Gem. But the description he had giving of the said person fit Iyannas to the tee only the name was different. Strange she thought to herself. "Did you guys catch the guy yet? Is he down at the jail?" she asked hopeing who ever this person was, was finally gone for good. "Nope, he disappeared rather quickly; almost like he vanished. Like he was never there to begin with." said the sheriff. "But I or my deputies will let you guys know once we have a lead or him in our grips. Obviously this guy is no harm to everyone but for sure dangerous to whoever this Gem girl is that he spoke about. "You all have enjoy the rest of the night I'll leave one of my guys here with yall out front for the night just to be on the safe side, with Kane and your parents gone you are not 100% safe break ins or not" Sheriff Whitt said as he left the party but just before reaching the gate he called Mel to him whispering about something. Iy heard Kane's name come up and saw a weird shared glance they gave to each other then they parted ways. Mel obviously trying to hide some sort of new strange expression of knowing something seriously unspeakable on her face decided it was time to shut the party down and turn in for the night. Knowing for Iyanna tomorrow was a big day for her seeing as it was her sweet 16.

Duke and Mason left the party together and decided they'd go to the cafe up the street for a late snack before heading home, it was just after midnight so Mason just knew his Aunt Claire who was owner of the cafe would have had her night server make a fresh pot of coffee. Duke decided it was a good idea, after the buzz he had from the drinks coffee could bring him back to his witts and he also need some time away from everyone so they could finish their conversation they had earlier in the week. After they sat in the furthest booth away from the door they ordered their coffee and dove into the important stuff that needed to be dealt with here and now before it was too late.

So everything it set right? She has not a clue about whats about to happen to her does she? She is going to be so pissed with me!" Duke said taking a sip of his now cold coffee. They had been so lost in conversation they forgot about the mugs of brew on the table in front of them. "Relax D I got a handle on things and trust me its going to happen one way or another, she has no choice she can go quietly or she can go kicking and screaming either way shes going. So enough of the guilt trips and asking for a way out because as we were both told we don't have a choice and since you know who fell short of his duty we now have to finish this once and for all. Put you're feelings for aside and think about the reality of it all will ya, stop acting like a boy and be the man you're set out to be or I'll have to handle this myself and believe me no one wants that to happen!" Said Mason refraining Duke from saying anything else that could cause quite the perdiciment in the situation that was always falling apart. What needed to be done was going happen in a little over 12 hours and it had to be done regardless of anyones feelings. Being scared of the consequences was no longer and option and turning back would end badley. So the guys finished their drinks and both went back to Masons to rest up for what was sure going to be an eventful saturday.
