Getting all the right answer

Getting all the right answer

A Chapter by Lacy Sutton

The alarm finally buzzed letting Iy know it was 7 a.m and a perfect time to contact Kane. She figured she'd go to her morning classes then skip out after lunch and meet up with him. Iy was carrying a 4.0 through out the school year so she thought missing her afternoon studies wouldn't be a huge deal especially since she was excused from all of her final exams. She was naturally smart and has plans to graduate a year early then hopefully go off to some big deal college and maybe follow in her parents foot steps. "Who knows?!" she said to herself pulling into the school parking lot. "All I know for sure is that Kane will be telling me everything I want to know pertaining to last night!".
The morning classes went by so slow that she swore that the 90 minute time framed classes were more like 3 hours. Finally the bell for lunch rang and in full excitement she hurried out of her history class and darted to the cafeteria. Scanning the tables in the room she finally spotted Mel who was hollering and waving at her to come join the group at their usual table. None of them normally ate the meals served but instead just grabbed a snack out of the vending machine along with a soda. The lunch period lasted 30 minutes and after standing in line waiting for meal plates and paying, there was maybe fives minutes left to scarf down what looks like smashed meat and rice. No one wanted to waste that kind of time. Instead they just talked about what ever gossip was sputtering around or caught up on latest love interests. Todays topic however was of neither types but more so about what happened last night at the bash and where Iy ran off to with Duke who seemed to have been out for the day. "Hmm weird; you guys know where Duke's at today? Is he sick or something? I spoked to him last night before going to sleep he seemed ok." Iy said wondering where he was. Something in her gut made her worry that he was in fact not sick or okay. "He just texted saying he's out of town with his parents, something to do with an important business meeting or whatever." Said Mason quickly after Iy flooded the group with concerned questions. "Of course, what else is new, probably something for school and his parents money buying him a college!" Said Mel.
30 minutes over already, Iy told the group she'd see them all at the end of the day and she left quickly from the cafeteria hoping no one followed her to ask how she felt or what she was up to. Unfortunately, Mason was quick behind her and as she got to the back exit he yelled at her. "Skipping class are we." He said. Iy thought quick and came up with an excuse to get her out. "Uh yeah, my head is hurting still, probably from when I passed out last night, must have hit it on something on the way down. I'm just going to go home and take a nap and hopefully it'll go away when I wake up." "Alright, hope you feel better. If you want I can drive you home; I planned on skipping out too. Going over to Duke's place. He said he needed to talk to me about something important." With a questioning look on her face she decided to deny Mason's offer. "No thanks, Ill make it home ok. I'll text you when I get there. You said your going to D's house which is in the opposite direction anyway; but I thought you said he was out of town?" "Guess he's back, so I'm going over there. And Iyanna really I do hope you feel better and if you need anything just give me a shout alright. See ya later." Mason said with a comforting hug as the two parted ways.

Finally reaching the starbucks around the corner from school, Iyanna spotted Kane and of course looking gorgeous as usual. She walked in wasting no time sat down and got straight to the point of their meeting. She asked every question she had jotted down in her note pad along with others that just came to her as she spoke. Kane only answered in short half unanswered riddle like ways. Half of what he said didn't even make since or on topic. He's being dodgy thought Iy as she listened to him speak about some folklore crap she thought made Kane look crazier then she did as she asked the questions. "Those creatures take their heirs just before they make sixteen and return them to their real mother and then they learn the ways of their true selves and how to coexist with their new found self." She heard Kane say but thought what the heck is this guy preaching about that thing was an average height strong as hell dude and yea he was scowling about taking her to her real home; but the facts were she was in the backyard of her "real" home. "You must have drank from the wrong bottle this morning when you woke up Kane, because, yeah I hear what you are saying but you are not making one lick of since. You need to go lie down and sleep it off eh!?" Iyanna said with a shaking head and waving hand not thinking anything he was saying was remotely the truth. So once again Iy was left with even more questions and confused. She thought Kane may even be confused. She decided maybe in a day or two she'd ask him again about the nonsence with hopes he will be sober this time.
