A Broken BondA Poem by LaceyEven though you
caused us pain. I still always saw
the good in you. I wanted nothing more
than to be “Daddy’s Little
Girl.” I fought for that
title for years. Never really seeing
the true cost of it. Looking back I now
understand the price of wanting to be The everything of
someone who is incapable of loving equally. And if I could go
back and change it, I would. Your love had become
a competition. A competition that
broke her heart, Because she never
won. I never wanted to be
the favorite. But that’s just the
game you play. You broke our bond By breaking her heart
And putting us
against each other. To fight for a title
that wasn’t even worth it. We still fight this
battle to this day Because of the damage
you have done. But
slowly we are learning to throw away the competition You
embedded in our brains. And
rebuild the sisterly bond you un-rightfully stole from us. © 2017 LaceyReviews
