Leave Of My Life

I stand at the top of the steps up above the water,

Leaves are falling around me like leaves of my life that are flying by.

 

Some of my leaves are falling faster than others,

Some of my leaves are taking their time and staying behind.

 

The leaves fall, some hitting the bank like a wall in my life,

I stand there losing myself in my thoughts of life.

 

Hands in my pocket, the water rushing by in my ear,

I realize that no matter what I do my life is changing.

 

I hear my mother standing on the deck; she is calling my name,

I turn and realize I am a ghost just watching my old life pass me by.

 

I turned when I realize I am just alone,

The wind picks up and I look at the water watching my leaves of life collide with others just like mine.

 

Some of my leaves are falling faster than others,

Some of my leaves are taking their time and staying behind.
