A Poem by Delilah
"

A draft from early this year. Strange looking back on that period of time. I lost a good friend. Now he's disagreeable and the nasal tones are far from "delicious"

"
Focus
I can't, your deliciously nasal tones are distracting me,
you gave up your time to help despite the work due in tomorrow
I can't stop thinking about your touch.
those languid, precise fingers grazing the tips of mine,
moving closer as if  accidentally even though I know that you overthink faster than I can string my disobediant words together.
My lips haven't even met yours
yet I can already taste them,
my fingers aching to reach up behind your neck and pull you closer
you're very good for me i think
Despite my inability to focus
despite my inability to string thoughts with words
despite my inability to take the first step, to sit down next to you before i pretend to look for another space
Looking back at this, almost a year past, it's a strange recollection. So much past, so much change, yet the feelings are the same, the subject is what changes
I need to focus.

In the words of Pablo Picasso, 'To draw, you must close your eyes and sing'. Perhaps rather than over thinking, one must close their eyes and let the words and their nuances flow on their own account .. more..
