The Hidden War

The Hidden War

A Poem by La Belle Musical
"

You just never know what's happening when you aren't looking...

"

A single blade of grass,
No different from the rest
Stands ready and at attention.

As the army marches on,
My lonely soldier follows
Not able to walk away
Dread showing in his colour.

He knows the enemie's approaching
And he just wants to run away
But he can't move - fear and duty
Forcing him to witness.

The Machine is coming closer,
Its teeth flashing in the sunlight;
The casualties already pilling
And my poor soldier cries for them all.

As he feels the teeth brush by him,
He thinks he's been lucky,

But a single tooth catches him
And my poor soldier dies that day.

Only to be replaced by another.
In this timeless, pointless battle
That will never be won
But that will never end.
