Under The Willow

Under The Willow

A Poem by L.M.Warde

I look out to a world beyond my own,
beneath my willow tree
All through life I've been alone,
Hoping to someday be free

So many years dancing through wondrous dreams,
A completeness I could never know
Places beyond my comprehension it seems,
the worlds to which I cannot go

I am alone beneath my willow tree
My life is fading, my heart may be ready
I've only ever wanted to be so free
Emancipation, my only remedy

Fingers shaking, I'm weak and the sun is bright
My refuge is here in the shadows of the leaves
My body feels heavy soaked in the light
I wish beyond words to have found beliefs

My breathing shallows
My thoughts, distant and deep
I must go to my gallows
Freedom takes me as I fall away into sleep

What a beautiful piece.....Often people wait til their dying breath to think about all they wished they had done in their life. This is like that, although I love that it takes place under a willow tree....very peaceful setting. Well done:)

Yay for a new poem! I was wanting to read more form you, and I was happy to come across this. :) Willows are by far my favorite trees, so the title drew me in rather quickly.

"Emancipation, my only remedy"
I literally smiled when I read that line. I love your word choice with emancipation and remedy. There's so many ways you could have written that, but I really love that you chose that.

Sometimes being left alone with yourself and your dreams can be quite relaxing. Sometimes it can get a little depressing when your reality doesn't measure up. Very well written :)
