Waxing Philosophy

Waxing Philosophy

A Poem by LUCIDMUSIC

WAXING PHILOSOPHY

Do you love life enough to protect yourself from it?

Would you call for jail time it was your brother that had done it?

If your people took the truth and spun it

Would you be so inclined to say the culprit should be punished?

If you were on it would the other side seem evil

Like a rapist run steeple

While your big brother on patrol sifting

To find what’s left of your people

What you once called home

Went from neighborhood and school to a war zone

If it was your city that turned to rubble and collapsed

How would you react?

Attack?

Or would you pray for them

Knowing life is like a sunset gone every day has an end

Would you cash a check if it was given to buy your dreams?

Signed by the man at the steering wheel of the machine

It’s yours

As long as you forget your principles for that light

Give up your stance against their plans

That you swore you’d fight

Until you reach the dirt

If you don’t die for those principles what was your life worth?

If your legacy was a bank account for a few

Would you

Feel so righteous in your ways and the things that you do?

Could you stand in front of a tank in a square?

If you were told who you can wed would it be so fair?

Would you take the time to get the focus

Set yourself on fire in protest?

When witnessing war and a nation of the hopeless

Or stare down a pistol put a posy in the wrong end of a barrel

To stop the continuing devolution of an impaled public in peril

Why would your circumstances change

If you stay the same

Should you ask yourself what you did or didn’t

When presented hard times

Love can be forever pain is part time

You’d be surprised what your heart finds

How much does the last straw weigh?

Enough to break a camels back?

Is closing your eyes suicide?

Would you sell your soul to the devil to rid the world of it

Would you save the world if you knew

You would never get the credit you’re due?

How special is sunlight with no clouds or rain?

What’s pleasure if you never felt pain?

What is your legacy if you’re defined by a chain?

How true are your motives if you act for payback in the name of fame?

How can your soul find salvation if it was never lost?

Can man calculate what your life costs?

Where do the lines lie if they’re never crossed?

Could you ever be forgiven for all the things you did?

What’s the meaning to life?

To live
