The Rudra

The Rudra

A Poem by Luke Rawlings

A baby cradled tightly within her fortress
Safe and deceived
Life is so simple
The circadian cycle of sleep and food
A mother’s tear and the father’s plan

A child clutching the apparel of her protector
An innocent trepidation
Muffled voices take hers away
So she can just sit alone
And cry

A young woman blackened by love
A heart with a broken code
Words take the edge of steel
Driving it into her flesh
A glimmer of hope behind a tear
Clarity

A lady fleeing her past
Never leaving footprints in the sand
Beautiful and elusive
That hidden butterfly’s red thread lost

An old maiden
Coughing and cold
Nothing to clutch

A coffin surrounded by stone

"Blackened by love". This is very unique. The line sticks in my mind and I can't decide if it is bugging me or not. I love the agony it brings my brain. Good write.

That is always an accomplishment and allow me a moment of arrogance to say "I intended that" :P
