The Winter of DistanceA Poem by Luke RawlingsA poem about how distance affects relationships
The steps of bitterness echo in the
Oncoming blizzard as autumn's leaves Perform a wild exodus into the Remains of a cold, unrelenting grave. An empty embrace fills the lost Heart of the weary traveller who Speaks words of longing for that Silent destination hanging out there. Brief words, fleeting like the wind. Stilled potraits, frozen like the frost. The captured voice of a growing Flame echoes like a distant storm That grows as the illuminated waters Crash into the dimmed embers. The roaring fire now springs free Like a swarm of ravenous locusts Swirling in the storm of serenity That brings me back to you. © 2013 Luke RawlingsReviews
