Flames

Flames

A Poem by Luke Rawlings

I stare into the myriad
Of angry autumn colours and
I see them dancing. They twist
Like ethereal thoughts lost in
The maze of waking dreams.
Am I a part of their world, or
Are they a figment of mine?
I can feel the intensity from
Them yet I can not hold them.
Freedom incarnate, unbound even
By form they feed from reality
And consume all they feel.
Do I see because I wonder, or
Do I wonder because I see?

I like the tight philosophic ponderings .. the poem is tightly executed also. Bravo! As to the answers ..

We may never answer those questions.. I am glad you liked it. Thanks :)
Wow not really how I would imagine fire I guess our minds have completely different imagery. I can see the amount of deep thought put into this poem by reading the lines. These three lines in particular:

Freedom incarnate, unbound even
By form they feed from reality
And consume all they feel.

Are very deep and in some ways over-whelming not to the reader but perhaps an expression from the writer that they are feeling over-whelmed by their own thoughts. I've noticed that the poem has a calm approach even though its talking about fire which is quite dangerous. I find the line "The maze of waking dream" quite inspiring becoz it has something surreal about it

I feel calm when I look at fire as it is quite mystifying, I pictured a campfire when writing this. .. read more
It makes me think...
