Call WaitingA Poem by Lola NationSomeone like you should watch out for someone like me; everything you ever wanted too good to be true.
Yeah, I see it, every time I look at you.
There should be a rule never love a man with prettier eyes than you;
stop staring I can’t take it anymore; you see what you want to see.
I could give you an apple and slither off and you’d still come back; fig leaf shame and all waiting for the comfort of shelter to shed skin again.
Man, I’m broken.
Did I mention the reasons that I ran from here in the first place?
Did I have the nerve to tell you I was a wreck, a walking disaster? I was throwing three sheets at a time into the wind, all s.o.s. poetry.
I was sleepless, distressed abused like you have never seen; and I loved anyone I thought could save me re-create me and make me a new good version of who I was always suppose to be.
I thought I’d have a picket fence, a husband and a baby.
I thought that they’d save me and the truth is " they didn’t love me;
at least the ones I knew the ones I could trust, never lied; it was like cocaine dust, a desperate lick to get that feeling you were closer to what you felt before.
We know the difference we speak openly now. wisely, so freely we admit our faults our pleasures, our defensive measures and yet " in hours in days in just a few minutes we will dismiss one another.
the call comes in
the phone rings twice
and I have to go. © 2011 Lola Nation |
